Peak Wellness

Put simply, Peak Wellness is the highest level of health one can reach. From physical health to mental health, which is more subtle. In reality, mental and physical health is one, just on different ends of the same spectrum. So far, what ‘s in the collective consciousness is not peak wellness but mental health, which is usually associated with mental issues. Hence the stigma.

People usually speak about mental health when they or someone close is suffering from it. Mild to advance anxiety, depression, recurrent negative thoughts, existential doubt, to schizophrenia, these are what psychologists and psychiatrists focus on. As a matter of fact, they were created to help realign people with mental issues and bring them back to normal baseline. Sigmund Freud, the godfather of modern psychology himself stated: “psychoanalysis can only offer the possibility of transforming neurotic misery into common unhappiness”. So what should normal people do? are they doomed to be unhappy? Is it possible to just like fitness/nutrition can make one stronger, healthier, can we improve our emotional state beyond normal?

Are you mentally, emotionally wealthy? This is where I found myself five years ago. Once I took care of my nutrition and fitness and made it a lifestyle, I started to find ways to improve my mental state, beyond normal, blossoming, flourishing, this is peak wellness.

Sat-cit-ananda:truth, consciousness, bliss.

Mind in Harmony

Is your emotional state dictated by the atmosphere around you? Is your happiness conditional to your achievements or losses? Is your life meaningful without goals? These are some of the questions peak wellness solves. The current paradigm in modern society is dictated by the accumulation and pursuit of wealth, which undeniably brought billions out of poverty around the globe and fostered innovation.

But mental wealth cannot be purchased, the only requirement to improve your emotional state is your willingness to go within, to learn about your inner ecosystem, become more conscious, alert and slow down thoughts waves, in order to reach a state of equanimity.


The only freedom is freedom of mind. As long as we are in the dictatorship of the mind, we are perpetually under the wheel of cause and effect, our present behavior ever linked to our past conditioning. Peak wellness brings forth a discontinuous relationship with the past, allowing us to be free of the mind and be in the bare present, spacious and grounded.

The human paradox is having the possibility to go higher, toward peak wellness or downward, in pure hell, mentally. The quality of our minds shapes our perception of the world and ourselves. Attachment and identification increase a dualistic view of the world, me versus the world, us vs them, which increases the ripples of the mind and inner turbulences. Being all in, within, is the only way to perceive the world and others as one. How can you be in sync with the world if you are yourself out of sync?

Meditation is synonymous with awakening because once the ripples of the mind subside, and collapse, we can see reality as it is, with clarity. Just like in sleep, a quiet mind unlocks immense relaxation, levity, joy, and spontaneous morality. Capitalism, unknowingly, put forth the idea that happiness is the result of achievements, of doing, of collecting. But peak wellness is the complete opposite, opposite to fitness and nutrition because it’s going from doing, doing and doing, to just being…letting go, un-grasping of the mind.

Mindfulness Education

The Dalai Lama once said, if mindfulness techniques were taught in schools, early on, we could achieve world peace in one generation. This statement might sound unrealistic but after five years of meditation, yoga, and breathing exercises to pacify my mind, I totally agree. How can we expect world peace if we are not at peace, mentally, if we are fragmented?

I personally realized that the more stable and quiet my mind became, and the lighter my heart became, inner tensions evaporated. I became less reactive to conflict or disturbed by outside noises. Now the bulk of my learning is on understanding the mind and eastern mind sciences, from Yoga to Zen, Buddhism to Dzogchen, Taoism to Advaita Vedanta. Via education and experience, I can now transfer this knowledge to my friends, family, and people who are interested in increasing their mental health, toward peak wellness. “You want peace & harmony in the world, but refuse to have them in yourself.”-Nisargadatta
